Meeting with Club Manager Eric Hart

Enid and I met with Eric Hart (Club Manager) to discuss some of the concerns raised in our Annual Report to the club.

We talked about the problems experienced through having to move at short notice to the Ariel and Snug.

Eric was very clear that the solution lay in making the Ariel Lounge usable for Sunday and maybe, eventually, Wednesday Bridge.

He was reluctant to consider measures to allow us to return on Sundays to the Ariel.

He did say he would ask the dance class if it was possible to turn down the sound. He seemed reluctant to do this as he sees the income from the class as an essential source of income in saving the club from closure.

He focussed more particularly on measures to make the Ariel friendlier for Bridge.

He said that the heating problem should not have happened and is easy to resolve by making sure that it is turned on in advance of Sunday evening and kept on

He would look into providing square tables as an alternative to the present unsatisfactory ones. These would be of the same size as our existing Bridge tables.

He said that LED lighting would be installed in the area near the entrance and bar and should improve the lighting there. He said that the bar in the room should be opened so that drinks could be bought from there.

I think the outcome was as expected. For now we will continue as we are. That is playing in the Ariel on Sunday and in the Annexe on Wednesday. We will need to monitor the situation to keep all our options open.
